Why study Master of Business Administration (MBA) at ANU

Building upon management experience and prior learning, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program provides middle managers with essential business and management knowledge and skills to move into senior management roles.

The ANU MBA Program is suited to candidates with the maturity and background that come from extensive experience in the workplace, through leadership in organisations or from living independently away from their home country and cultural environment. A strong component of the program is the sharing of extensive and varied management experience. As most MBA seminars and tutorials have between 20 and 60 students, quality interaction is possible.

Program Highlights

  • Study in an exclusive program at the 1st ranked University in Australia and the 24th in the World (QS World University Rankings 2018/19).
  • All applicants will be considered for the Research School of Management MBA Scholarships. The School offers up to 30 fee-waiver scholarships to attract high-calibre students into the MBA and MBA (Advanced) programs
  • Be taught by world renowned scholars in the areas of evidence based management, international business, operational management, strategy, project management, information systems, change management, innovation and entrepreneurship, leadership and marketing. The Research School of Management is ranked 14th in the World in the area of “social science and management” in the 2018 QS World University Rankings by Subject, 1st  in Australia for “business and economics” in the 2018 THE Subject Rankings, and was rated equal best in Australia and “well above world standard” in the 2015 Excellence in Research Australia results.
  • World’s first Evidence-Based management MBA program. All courses in the MBA have been redesigned to equip students with the skills to identify, evaluate and apply the best available evidence to inform more effective decision making.
  • One February intake a year with MBA seminars and tutorials ranging in size between 20 and 60 students where quality interaction is possible.
  • Finish in 1.5 years full-time or 3 years part-time
  • Courses in the MBA are offered in the evening to cater for part-time students.
  • Possibility to extend the MBA with a research semester working on a Master Sub-Thesis as an entry path to a PhD program at ANU.

Entry requirements »

  • Minimum 5 years work experience (including at least 3 years documented management experience). 
  • One of the following:
    • A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a credit average (GPA 5.0/7.0).
    • An ANU Graduate Certificate in Management with a credit average (GPA 5.0/7.0).
    • A minimum GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score of 600 or higher.
  • A successfully completed Evidence-Based Management EdX MicroMasters, achieving at least 70% in the final capstone exam.

MBA Scholarships »

Each year the Research School of Management may offer up to 30 merit-based fee-waiver scholarships. The scholarship will cover a percentage of the student tuition fee for the duration of the MBA. Up to 5 scholarships each intake are full scholarships.

Fees »

Annual indicative fee for domestic students is AUD $33,888 in 2019. Annual indicative fee for international students in 2019 is AUD $45,600.

Application deadline 

The MBA and MBA (Advanced) programs will be commencing in Semester 1 (February) only each year. Applications for Semester 2 (July) commencement are not accepted.

For semester 1 2020 intake refer to the following application dates and deadlines.

First round applications (international applicants only)

Application deadline is 7 July 2019 (11:59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time)
Applicants will be notified of the outcome for both admission and scholarship early August 2019.

Acceptance deadline for round one for both MBA program and scholarship is 8 September 2019.

Second round applications (international and domestic applicants)

Application deadline is 6 October 2019 (11:59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time)
Applicants will be notified of the outcome for both admission and scholarship early November 2019.

Acceptance deadline for round two for both MBA program and scholarship is 1 December 2019.

Third round applications (domestic applicants only)

Application deadline is 5 January 2020 (11:59pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time)
Applicants will be notified of the outcome for both admission and scholarship late January 2020.

Acceptance deadline for round three for both MBA program and scholarship is 9 February 2020.

MBA Scholarships
