Never stop expanding your professional network

The ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE) offers programs and initiatives that help students develop valuable connections and skills — proving beneficial as they commence employment and throughout their working lives. Strong networks provide guidance and professional development opportunities that shape career paths.

Find out more about the College’s Careers and Student Employability courses and industry events, and engage with employers like Google, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Enrst & Young.

Special Industry Project

This course mimics the real-world corporate environment, enabling students to work with industry professionals from organisations like the National Australia Bank and Unilever. These representatives act as clients with relevant business problems or opportunities for which students design, develop and provide solutions.

Ahead of presenting their recommendations to potential future employers and workplace connections, this course ensures participants receive ongoing supervision as they learn to deliver practical and applicable outputs to a high commercial standard.

MomentuM Professional Development and Mentor Program

Students will expand their corporate circle with the MomentuM professional development and mentor program. Through practical and theoretical opportunities, they build and develop key job competencies while gaining industry insights and working with their assigned mentor. Participating organisations include CPA Australia, Dixon Advisory and agencies of the Australian Public Service, such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Department of Defence, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

MomentuM incorporates learning milestones, workshops and events to develop confident, work-ready and competitive graduates. The program facilitates networking amongst peers and the College’s government and business partners.

Career initiatives with top employers

The College’s Careers and Student Employability team hosts various interactive events and workshops, providing students with information about internship and graduate opportunities, and crucial skill development.

CBE have partnered with top employers, including RBB Economics, Protiviti, the Treasury, and Deloitte Access Economics to deliver various career initiatives including Mock Assessment Centres, Hiring Manager Perspective Workshops, Industry Led Professional Skills Sessions and Employer Meetups. These programs enable students to connect with world-class companies and learn from the best about the graduate recruitment process, resume writing, selection criteria, psychometric testing and interviews; as well as developing and honing professional skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, resilience, personal branding and more.

Relevant work experience and career development opportunities enhance professional networks. Watch CBE students and staff explain the value of the College’s employability courses.
