Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Candidates undertaking a PhD will be asked to submit a thesis of no more than 100,000 words. The thesis must make a substantial contribution to learning and demonstrate a capacity to relate the research done by the candidate to the broader framework of the relevant discipline within which it falls, at the standard internationally recognised for the degree. In some programs, PhD candidates may also be required to complete some graduate level coursework units in addition to their thesis (usually completed during their first year of study).

A PhD program is usually completed over two to four years studying on a full-time basis. Find the general program information here. The program admission requirements and structures vary across disciplines. It is critical to review all discipline-specific information before you apply.
