MomentuM – Information for Mentees

Benefits

MomentuM is a student-driven program. While many opportunities are facilitated by the CBE Employability Coordinator and CBE Careers & Employability team, it is up to the individual student (mentee) to be proactive, actively participate and invest in the program.

MomentuM aims to support mentees to:

  • Gain an understanding of and insight into the working professional environment;
  • Develop and improve business acumen;
  • Be supported by, challenged and motivated by an experienced industry professional (mentor);
  • Develop increased confidence, self-awareness, emotional intelligence and an understanding of personal brand and value proposition;
  • Identify career pathways and develop career goals;
  • Gain an understanding of different business sectors and industries;
  • Develop an innovative and inquisitive outlook;
  • Build new connections and strong professional networks;
  • Improve communication and interpersonal skills and;
  • Hone excellent time management skills


Program requirements

Students participating in MomentuM will not receive course credit. MomentuM is a voluntary program offered to a select cohort of students who have exhibited a genuine interest in professional development and the opportunity to learn from an industry mentor.

Before commencing the MomentuM program, each student (mentee) must sign a mentoring agreement with their nominated mentor and attend a compulsory pre-commencement workshop.

MomentuM is an intensive, voluntary program and requires a high-degree of personal commitment and strong time management. Before applying for this program, please ensure you have carefully read the program requirements, eligibility and selection criteria and key dates to determine whether this opportunity is right for your personal circumstances.

MomentuM program commitment:

A full list of milestones, workshops and events for the upcoming MomentuM program (July - November 2020) will be provided to all participating mentors and mentees.

In addition to compulsory key program activities, MomentuM students are offered the opportunity to attend a series of optional CBE Careers workshops and employer events over the course of the semester.

The anticipated time commitment for mentees is approximately 6-9 hours per month. Actual commitment may vary and is dependent on the individual, and may be greater.


Eligibility

Places in the CBE MomentuM Program are offered via a competitive selection process.

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements to be considered for this opportunity.

MomentuM is open to all currently enrolled undergraduate and postgraduate CBE students who:

  • at the time of submitting their application, have successfully completed a minimum of:
    • 48 units in their current CBE program (undergraduate students) or;
    • 24 units in their current CBE program (postgraduate students)
    • *Flexible Double Degree undergraduate students must have completed 72 units across their program by the time they would commence the program
  • hold and maintain a minimum, pass average (GPA 4.0/7.0)
  • are currently enrolled in a CBE program and will remain so for the duration of the MomentuM program
  • have attended one of the compulsory "Virtual MomentuM Information Session & Worshop";
  • have completed the online application form and 1-minute video response in full and by the advertised application deadline

Note:

• Students who have previously participated in MomentuM are not eligible to re-apply.

• Late applications cannot be accepted.

• To book your place in one of the five compulsory "CBE Careers - Virtual MomentuM Information Sessions", search under “Events” on the CareerHub website. A schedule of available dates and times can be found below

**Note: Students who attended a "MomentuM information Session" and "MomentuM, Communicating with Purpose" workshop in semester 1, 2020 (and whose ANU CareerHub status is marked as "attended" for both) do not need to attend the compulsory "Virtual MomentuM Information Session".


Application details

You must submit your application online before 11.59pm Sunday, 17 May 2020 (AEST)

As part of your application, you will be required to:

  • complete and submit an online application form and;
  • complete and submit a 1-minute InterviewStream video application response sharing your understanding of the MomentuM program and what you hope to achieve through your participation in the program.

Applicants will be advised of their application outcome by 5pm Friday, 22 May 2020 and must be able to confirm their participation and return required documentation by Wednesday, 27 May 2020.
