CBE Gender Equity Seminar Scheme

The CBE Gender Equity Seminar Scheme aims to provide event management assistance to the Research Schools of the College. This initiative is to enable CBE academics to deliver seminars, conferences, guest lectures, panel discussions and networking events on issues related to gender equity.

Background

The Australian National University Strategic Plan 2017-2021 has, at its core, The Need for Change. One of the five areas identified as a Need for Change is Achieving Equity – Within ANU and in Society. The Strategic Plan states:

"We continue to make progress on gender equity, but have much work still to do. Our student cohort is slightly more than half female in most subjects, but there are notable exceptions that are strongly gender biased. The progress rates of students are not strongly linked to gender or ethnicity, but the progression rates of academic staff, especially from fixed-term to continuing positions remain biased against women."

How to apply

Each CBE Research School is entitled to access event management support from the CBE Communications and Outreach team for up to two gender equity related events per calendar year. Funding for these events will be provided by the relevant Research School.

CBE Academics will be able to apply for event management support under the Scheme twice a year.

Applicants must seek endorsement from their Research School Director before submitting an application to the Scheme.

Once endorsement has been received, applicants must complete the below application form and select ‘submit’.

Applications will be reviewed by the CBE Gender Equity Committee. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email by 30 August, 2019.

Applications are now open and will close Friday 9 August, 2019.
