2019 CBE Professional Staff Awards

The awards encourage, recognise and reward professional staff for innovation, improvement and excellence in their role. If you know of a professional staff member who merits recognition, nominate them for a Professional Staff Award. Nominations for the awards will close on Friday, 18 October 2019.

Guidelines for the CBE Annual Professional Staff Awards

The ANU College of Business and Economics is committed to recruiting, developing and retaining the best professional staff to support the strategic goals of the College and University. These annual awards are to encourage, recognise and reward professional staff for innovation, service improvement and collegiality.

Staff members must be nominated by a member or members of the College Community. Evaluation of all nominations will be made based on the written evidence, with one (or more) specific examples (i.e. event or activity) that demonstrates outstanding achievement in one of the following areas:

  • Improvement in the quality of service for students and/or staff;
  • Contribute to creating an enabling culture in accordance with the CBE Our values and behaviours (draft) - i.e. in the areas of Excellence, Robustness, Respect, Collegiality and Unity.
  • Build and contribute to innovation and improvements in the workplace e.g. implementing new ideas or improving existing services and/or processes.

All full-time, part-time or casual professional CBE staff members are eligible for nomination for a staff award. Multiple awards may be granted in a given year. Successful recipients of an award will be eligible for nomination in following years.

Plaque and monetary awards will be paid either as a bonus payment (tax implications) or used for staff development expenses. The award amount is $2,000.

Nomination submissions should be no more than 500 words which must directly address one of the criteria.

Process of Selection:

The award process is run annually and the closing date for nominations is Friday, 18 October 2019.

Nominations will be considered by a selection panel chaired by the General Manager, comprising of:

  • A Director of a CBE Research School;
  • A CBE Associate Dean; and
  • A General Manager from another College.

The Dean of the College will make decisions about the winners of the awards based on recommendations from the panel.

Supervisors and panel should note that CBE Professional Staff Awards recognise excellence in achievement and contribution beyond the normal expectations of the work undertaken by individuals.

Awards will be presented at the College End of Year celebration. To nominate a staff member please do so at this link - 2019 CBE Staff Awards.
