Global Challenge

Global Challenge

At ANU’s College of Business and Economics, we’re here to support your health and happiness. That’s why we’re excited to announce we are funding you a position to take part in the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge for 2017 (previously GCC).

By participating you’ll find new, exciting ways to increase your daily activity, improve your nutrition habits, your sleep and ultimately make the positive changes that result in a happier and healthier you.

Sign up today and get started! Registration closes 28 April.

What is the Global Challenge?

The Virgin Pulse Global Challenge is a 100 day virtual journey that kicks off on May 24. You’ll be joining 400,000 people from around the world competing in teams of seven on a journey that improves both physical and psychological health. But it’s not just about the 100 days, the Global Challenge will provide you with a 12-month platform to ensure that awareness, education and motivation continue throughout the year.  No matter your current level of activity, we have a place waiting for you!

What do I receive for being involved?

Upon registering your team of seven, you will all receive a Pulse accelerometer so you can track and sync your daily physical activity onto the free Global Challenge mobile app or website.  Once you receive your unique login, the adventure begins and every step you and your team takes is plotted along a virtual tour of the world.  You can view your ranking against global and other Department teams and battle for the top spot on the leader board.

What happens during the journey?

The Global Challenge isn’t just about wearing out your shiny new trainers. There are plenty of areas in which you can improve your health:

  • Understand that exercise and eating well is far less complicated and difficult than you originally thought, with the simple to use Nutrition module.
  • Want to be more mindful instead of mind full? Everyone is exposed to pressure, both from work and from home. Often though, we don’t have the tools we need to manage life’s setbacks and so we feel stressed. Just as the Global Challenge's physical activity component strengthens the body, our Balance module gives you tips to deal with stress and find happiness every day.
  • Bounce out of bed, measure and understand your sleep patterns with the Global Challenge's Sleep module, designed to help you tailor and log your own personal sleep Journey.

How do I register my team?

Talk to colleagues around you, find your team of seven, nominate a team captain and sign up here.

Asked around but still having trouble finding a team of seven? You can email or and we will do our best to connect you with other keen colleagues looking for a team.

Spread the word with your colleagues and get ready to discover new horizons on your journey to a happier, healthier you.
