The CBE Research Committee has developed a suite of funding initiatives aimed at assisting the College to achieve its goals of a high level of research activity and excellence in research outcomes.

The funding schemes listed are designed to create various opportunities for both individuals and schools to undertake and publish excellent research and thereby build upon the already fine research reputation of the College.

Research School Grants (RSG)

RSG submission timeline for 2017 TBA

The Research School Grants (RSG) are fully funded by the ANU College of Business & Economics.  The scheme is aimed at assisting the College achieve its goals of a high level of research activity and excellence in research outcomes.  

To achieve this goal, support is provided for projects in two categories:

  • Starter Grants for emerging researchers; and
  • General Research Grants for both emerging and experienced researchers.

Applications will open for RSG 2016-17 on 1 August 2016. Please contact the CBE Research Services Office (RSO) to register your Notice of Intent (NOI) by 12 August 2016.  The application form and supporting documents will be forwarded on receipt of the NOI.

Applications using the pdf form are to be submittted via email to the CBE Research Services Office by COB on Wednesday 14 Sept 2016.

Publications - Reward for Quality Research Publications Scheme

The College developed this scheme to reward initiative and excellence through research by rewarding research publications in high quality journals that result from this. If you are a CBE academic member of staff with at least a fractional appointment of 40 percent then you are eligible to apply.

The scheme can be applied for anytime between the date of the acceptance advice provided by the publisher and up to one year after the in print publication date of the article. Further information on the scheme can be found in the scheme's guidelines below.

Please submit your application via email to the CBE Research Services Office using the information required noted in the 'How to apply by email' link below.

The Guidelines that apply to your publication are determined by the acceptance date from the publisher.

The business and economics publication list used is the ADBC16 list.

A copy of the ERA10 list* can be used if the publication is not in the ABDC Deans list and is for top non-business publications only, as per the Guidelines, and can be obtained from the CBE Research Services Office.

*Note: If publications for non-business articles are on outlets that are not one of these two lists and you consider that they may be at an equivalent top level then they will be considered on a case by case basis.

All rewards from this scheme will go to your '03' Research Incentives Account. The reward is designed to support your research work as detailed in the expenditure guidelines below.

Editing - Contribution to Editing of Publications Scheme

The College aims to support its full time staff in attaining top quality publications (A* & A) journals with the availability of this scheme to contribute towards editing costs.

The scheme also supports HDR (PhD and M/Phil) students in the final stages of their thesis prior to submission by providing support towards their thesis editing costs. This support is also available to studnets undertaking their theisis by a series of papers.

Once editing completed, please submit your application with your invoice  via email to the Research Services Office including the information required as noted in the 'How to apply' application information below. 

Please note: While the College's preference is to pay editors directly, reimbursement can be arranged.

CBE Research Supervision Certificate and workshops

Background

The College of Business and Economics expects all supervisors of research student to undertake training for this role. To this end the College offers the CBE Research Supervision Certificate for the completion of a series of workshops offered by the College on HDR supervision. 

The goal of the certificate program is to support CBE's HDR supervisors in undertaking this role with the provision of relevant and practical information with a CBE context.

Program structure:

The program consists of two workshops conducted on campus (lead by an external Education expert with a CBE context provided by the College and usually run early in the year); and the two day CBE HDR Retreat (formerly the PhD Camp, held off campus usually during the first week of second semester’s mid-semester break).

Staff members do not have to complete all parts of the program within the same academic year.

Workshop 1 Topic:  Supervisory Relationships and Expectations with CBE context

Workshop 2 Topic:  Milestones, Thesis Assessment and Examination with CBE context

CBE HDR Retreat Topic: A variety of topics are presented each year relevant for new
and experienced supervisors with CBE context

Further ANU support for HDR supervisors: TBC for 2017

As of 2016 ANU is offering a new supervision training workshop program that all ANU supervisors can attend. They are an expansion on the workshops in the CBE Supervision Certificate and can be attended individually or as a set. The College encourages all CBE supervisors to attend if possible. Gender Equity Research Funding

The College's Gender Equity Research Funding scheme has been developed to provide funding for research projects which focus on understanding and/or providing tangible benefits in terms of gender equity in the workplace.

An application can be submitted at any time during the year (TBC) via email to the Research Services Office using the application form below. It is recommended that if the funding is being used for preparatory research work that the application is submitted 6 to 8 months prior to the external grant submission date.

Indigenous Research Support (IRS)

The CBE Indigenous Research Support (IRS) scheme has been developed to provide funding for research projects and/or preparatory research work for external grants which focus on understanding and/or providing tangible benefits for Indigenous communities and culture.

An application can be submitted at any time during the year via email to the Research Services Office using the application form below. It is recommended that if the funding is being used for preparatory research work that the application is submitted 6 to 8 months prior to the external grant submission date.
