PhD & MPhil Thesis editing support

The ANU College of Business and Economics has updated the arrangements for providing editing support for it's HDR (PhD & M/Phil) students thesis editing.  As part of this update, the College has committed an extra funding amount to each student's PhD/MPhil funding allocation to assist with the cost.

All editing claims can now be processed directly through your School Office.

Finding an editor:

A list of possible editors can be obtained from your Research School Office, the HDR Student Administration Office, or the CBE Research Services Office. You are not restricted to this list, however to claim, the editor needs to be an accredited academic editor approved by your supervisor.

Editing costs and timeframes:

Editors can provide quotes if you wish to compare cost and timeframes as these can vary. Give yourself at least a fortnight for the editing turnaround time as express times can steeply escalate the price.

When you submit your thesis to an editor please ensure that you:

  • check your quote with your Research School Office to ensure that you have enough funds in your PhD/MPhil funding allocation and that your School Office is happy to arrange payment. They may be able to arrange a part-payment if funds are low;

  • have submitted to the editor a copy of the  ANU’s Thesis Editing Guideline as this is an ANU requirement.

  • confirm rules and amount available if part of the payment will be from your RTP scholarship. The scholarship has a thesis allowance and you can  contact their office via student@anu.edu.au.

  • contact your Research School Office if you require a confirmation email regarding direct payment by the School.

When thesis editing completed:

When the editing has been completed, please submit your editing invoice to your Research School who can then pay the editor directly or arrange for reimbursement if you have paid already.

The final decision on amounts payable rests with the Research School.

Thesis submission for examination:

If you are close to submitting your thesis, and haven’t already done so, please notify of your intent to submit.  Please see the Guidelines for Research Theses Submission and Examination.

Further information:

Any queries related to this scheme can be directed to your Research School Office or the HDR Student Administration Office.
