  • Awarded a Federation Fellowship (the first in Economics) (2003)
  • Appointed to the Board of the Queensland Competition Authority (1999)
  • Published "Great Expectations: Microeconomic Reform in Australia" (1996)
  • Published "Work for All: Full Employment in the 1990s" (1994)
  • Winner of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia Medal (1993)
  • First article in the Australian Financial Review, advocating exemption of food from the GST (1992)
  • Published "A Theory of Anticipated Utility" in the Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organisation (1982)

Career philosophy
