  • Professor and Head, Economics Program, Research School of Social Sciences, ANU 2005-2007
  • Higher education financing guidance (mostly through the World Bank)to the government of Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, the UK, Canada, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Germany, China, Colombia, Mexico, Nepal and Thailand
  • Input into interest rate, employment, individual relations, education, and fiscal policy as a Senior Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister 1994-1996
  • Input into analysis of labour market programs, and provided motivation and program design in the development of Working Nation in 1993-1994
  • Helped motivate and design the Higher Education Contribution Scheme in 1987-1988
  • On-going research into the role of training and education on labour markets outcomes

Career philosophy
