Biography

Ashley Craig is a Senior Lecturer in Economics, and a John Mitchell Fellow. His research spans Public Economics and Labor Economics, with a particular focus on human capital investment, taxation, and inequality – especially in environments with imperfect information. He is also affiliated with the University of Michigan Office of Tax Policy Research, the Institute of Labor Economics and the ANU Tax & Transfer Policy Institute.

Ashley received his PhD from Harvard University in May 2019, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Sydney. Previously, he worked as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia. While at Harvard, he was a James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Ph.D. Scholar in Inequality and Wealth Concentration, and recipient of a Lara Warner Ph.D. fellowship from the Harvard Kennedy School Women and Public Policy Program. He received teaching awards from Harvard University and the University of Sydney, and was twice voted Best Professor by the University of Michigan's economics graduate students. In 2020, he received the IIPF Young Economists Award from the International Institute of Public Finance.
