PhD in Economics, University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

MSc in Finance and Economics (with Distinction), University of Southampton, U.K.


Yijuan's research focuses on health economics and industrial organization. A main topic of his research is evaluating policies that publicly reveal performance measures of firms and instiutions. Examples include hospital mortality rates, restaurant hygiene conditions, and school exam results, etc. His joint work in evaluating policies that disclose hospital waiting times was awarded the Early Career Research Prize by the Australian Health Economics Society in 2013. He also conducts research in industrial organization that analyses competition and complementarity between online and offline businesses. He has published in leading economics journals including Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, and Journal of Mathematical Economics.
