Biography

I am Associate Professor and Reader in International Business at the ANU Research School of Management. My areas of research specialisation include:

  • Economic and business development in Indonesia
  • Economic and business history of Australia
  • European economic integration and EU-Australia business relations
  • Headquarter-subsidiary relations in multinational enterprises
  • Development of Corporate Social Responsibility applications

I rejoined the Research School of Management in 2015, after secondments as Senior Fellow in Economics at the ANU Crawford School, and Deputy Director of the ANU Centre for European Studies. During 2001-2010, I was Associate Professor and Reader at the ANU School of Marketing, Management and International Business, where I established the international business curricula at the ANU. Before 2001 I was Senior Lecturer in Economics and Economic History at the ANU, research associate at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research in London (UK) and associate lecturer at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands.

I served as a Vice-President of the Australia and New Zealand International Business Academy (ANZIBA), as Treasurer of the Economic History Society of Australia and New Zealand (EHSANZ), and have been editor of the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies and the Australian Economic History Review. I conducted consultancies for the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
