Ann Steward

Ann Steward

Ann Steward has over 33 years successful public sector leadership in Australia and the UK governments at senior executive level, covering policy and operational leadership responsibilities.

As the Australian Government Chief Information Officer for over seven years, she drove numerous major whole of government ICT and digital reforms including development of national digital and service delivery standards, frameworks, skills development, benchmarking, data and investment models and policies designed to ensure greater consistency in the use, investment and management of ICT.

Prior to her AGCIO role, Ann managed a major $500m technology reform within Centrelink, the Australian Government’s then largest service delivery agency.

Among other career highlights, Ann has led or participated in UN and OECD programs driving change in the application of IT for integrated digital service delivery.

Ann has also held senior membership as Vice President and President in the International Council for IT in Government Administration (ICA).

Following her retirement in 2012, Ann has undertaken specialist consultancy assignments for private and public sectors in Australia and internationally. She also holds the position of Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra.

In recognition of her outstanding service and success Ann was awarded the Australian Public Service Medal in 2012.
