Natalia Weir, Bachelor of Business Administration (Corporate Sustainability) and Bachelor of Science (Sustainability)

Natalia Weir

Bachelor of Business Administration (Corporate Sustainability) and Bachelor of Science (Sustainability)

Natalia is studying a combined Bachelor of Business Administration (Corporate Sustainability) and Bachelor of Science (Sustainability) at ANU.

What do you do at ANU?

I’m in my fourth year, studying a double degree in business and science with majors in Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Studies.

I also work as an outreach officer for the ANUgreen Sustainability Office, and I’m also an ANU College of Business and Economics student ambassador, as well as occasionally volunteering with the Student Equity office.

What do you enjoy most about your studies?

I am genuinely passionate about my studies at the ANU, in corporate sustainability and sustainability sciences, and I’ve been told my enthusiasm is infectious. I believe that education is key to a better and a more fulfilled life.

ANU is a fun and dynamic place to study and it has given me opportunities that I never dreamed were possible.

Tell us about the VC Leadership program you recently participated in.

The VC Leadership program is a really great initiative and I’d encourage everyone to apply. It couples regular workshop sessions with ongoing mentoring from senior people within the University. You get to learn things like negotiation skills, communication skills, peer coaching, reflection and various other leadership strategies.

And you were also selected for an IARU sustainbility fellowship at Yale University?

I was fortunate enough to take part in a Sustainability Fellowship at one of ANU’s partner IARU (International Alliance of Research Universities) institutions Yale University - a truly amazing experience.

The program offered hands on experience in the field of sustainability by engaging with sustainability offices at leading IARU universities across the globe.

My placement took place at Yale University, located in a small, charming town of New Haven, Connecticut, just a 2 hour train ride North of New York.  The Yale student dormitory right across from my office in the city centre would be my headquarters for the next 5 weeks.

All in all it was a truly amazing experience and I am really grateful for the exposure and amazing opportunities that ANU offers its students.
