Anna grew up in Canberra, and initially started at ANU as an undergraduate, studying Arts with a major in International Relations and Commerce, majoring in International Business.
Anna spent five years working in the Public Service where she was able to experience a variety of roles including risk and program management, and then in 2014, she returned to ANU to study Project Management at the postgraduate level.
“Since graduating in December 2015, I have left my public service job to pursue a career in consulting. Thanks to my time at ANU, I was lucky enough to secure a job with Ernst & Young in Canberra and have been working there since January 2016,” she says.
“As far as jobs go, it is quite demanding but rewarding at the same time, in that I am able to apply my ANU learning to real projects, across a range of industries,” she reflects.
Anna says her postgraduate study at ANU helped her to land her current job.
“Studying at the ANU gave me access to opportunities that I mightn’t otherwise have had, and allowed me to benefit from the instruction of experienced industry professionals.
“My lecturers reported the high grades I achieved in project management to the Australian Institute of Project Management, which lead to me receiving a prestigious award, after which a number of professional services firms sought to recruit me.”
She is grateful for the support she received from her postgraduate lecturers at the College of Business and Economics.
“Among my postgraduate professors, there were also consulting professionals who spiked my interest in the profession and encouraged me to proceed with the career change.”
