A Scholarship of Global Proportions

20 September 2018

Madeleine Elizabeth is a 2018 ANU College of Business and Economics South East Asia Merit Scholarship recipient, and she has her sights firmly set her sights on a global career in insurance.

“ANU offers the International Business major which will set me up well for a career with an international focus. I always had a fascination with culture, languages and traditions, thus it has been my dream to have a career with an international focus,” says Madeleine.

The scholarship is to support diversity and to strengthen educational outcomes for students both in terms of skills development and preparation for further study or employment.

ANU offers a number of programs that support students financially. A value, at its core that acknowledges a commitment to supporting talented students.

“ANU offers a comprehensive scholarship program, which means a lot to me. I am very happy and grateful to be selected.”

For Madeleine, the scholarship is the first step towards a global career.

“ANU has exchange opportunities with a range of elite partner universities globally, which I am very keen on. I have chosen ANU and I am certain that ANU will provide me with opportunities that I never thought possible,” says Madeleine.

That dream, to work in a global company, is inspired by Madeleine’s mother, who has enjoyed a career in marine underwriting.

“I have always been inspired by my mum who works as a Marine Underwriter in the insurance world. I know insurance may not be perceived as being glamorous, but I believe it offers an incredibly rewarding career, one that offers lifelong friends and relationships across the globe.”

“I believe with the academic knowledge and the essential exposure to industry environments, ANU will equip me to excel and start my career as a well-rounded and well-prepared individual.”

You can find out more about the comprehensive scholarships on offer at the ANU College of Business and Economics at the ANU Scholarships webpage.
