Distinguished Marketing Educator Award

12 December 2017

Associate Professor Vinh Lu has been named 2017 ANZMAC Distinguished Marketing Educator in recognition of his excellent teaching work at the ANU College of Business and Economics.

Associate Professor Lu received his award at the 2017 Annual conference of the Australian & New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) in Melbourne.

The 2017 ANZMAC Distinguished Marketing Educator Award is presented to the person judged to have demonstrated sustained excellence in marketing education, motivating and inspiring students to learn and developing innovations that have influenced and enhanced learning and teaching.

Associate Professor Lu, was thrilled to receive the award, but was quick to recognise all those who he has worked with as an educator.

“Students, colleagues and senior executives have made my journey at CBE and ANU incredibly worthwhile over the past 7.5 years.” Associate Professor Lu said.

“I am also very humbled by this award from the ANZMAC community. It particularly meant a great deal receiving it in the presence of Professor Pascale Quester, my PhD supervisor (and former Lecturer in Marketing Management) at the University of Adelaide. Her wisdom, charisma, and passion for Marketing and student learning have shaped much of my educator persona today.”

Associate Professor Lu has successfully led and developed a suite of college-wide initiatives at the ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE), where he is Director of Engaged Learning.  These projects directly contribute to the enrichment of the student experience, by encouraging them to engage with industry and develop a professional identity.

Dr Bronwen Whiting, Associate Dean (Education) at CBE, understands the value of student centric teaching as she reflects on Vinh’s award, “We are fortunate to work with such a dedicated educator and great colleague.”

“Many CBE students have benefited from Vinh’s incredible passion for teaching,” said Dr Whiting.

“He has brought industry cases into academic studies in both International Marketing as well as the CBE Internship course, both of which are incredibly popular with students and have been recognised with multiple awards of their own.”
