O-Week activities Semester 1 2016

O-Week 2016 will be held from Monday 8 February to Friday 12 February 2016. We're looking forward to welcoming new students to ANU!

O-Week is the perfect time to explore the campus, meet your new classmates and answer any remaining questions you might have about your study program.

We’ve compiled a list of events and activities that will help you prepare for your studies, find your way around and settle in.

CBE Induction Session for Undergraduates

If you’re a first year student, make sure you come along to the College of Business and Economics Induction Session. We'll cover all the essential information you need to know.

CBE student ambassadors will share advice on how to make the most of your time at ANU. You will also hear from the business and economics-related student clubs and societies at ANU, and how you can get involved.

Our student ambassadors will then lead you on a tour of the College buildings, followed by course-specific sessions for more detailed information about your program of study. Find out more.

Where: Induction begins at Manning Clark Centre – MCC1

CBE Induction Session for Postgraduates

New postgraduate students are encouraged to attend this induction session.

Find out about the support services and facilities available to postgrad students, and hear from Dr Bronwen Whiting, Associate Dean (Education) for the College of Business and Economics.

This will be followed by a brief tour of the College buildings, followed by discipline-specific information sessions. Find out more.

Academic Skills Workshops

Academic skills workshops are run by the Academic Skills and Learning Centre, to  teach you some new strategies for getting the most out of your study. There will be sessions on essay writing, exam preparation, time management and more – and it’s all free.

  • Market Day, 9am - 4pm Wednesday 10 February
    Organised by the ANU Student's Association (ANUSA), Market Day sees University Avenue and Union Court filled with stalls. Find out about the many and varied ANU Clubs and Societies and join up - it's the best way to meet new people!

  • Commencement Address, 10am - 11am, Thursday 11 February
    New Vice-Chancellor and Nobel Laureate, Professor Brian Schmidt AC, invites you to the inaugural ANU Commencement Address, on the lawns of University Avenue. Make sure you bring a hat, wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle.

  • CBE Chinese New Year Celebration, 1pm, Friday 12 February
    To celebrate the Year of the Monkey, the ANU College of Business and Economics is hosting a Chinese New Year celebration with delicious food and a performance by a Chinese dance troupe.

CBE New Student Welcome

All new CBE students are invited to this fun and friendly welcome event, hosted by the College of Business and Economics.

This is a great opportunity to meet academic staff, enjoy some refreshments, win prizes and network with your new classmates. No registration required.
