CBE Welcomes Dr. Fedor Iskhakov

Dr. Fedor Iskhakov joins the ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE) as Senior Lecturer at the Research School of Economics (RSE), having already made a significant impact on economic policy in the global arena.

Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, Fedor completed his undergraduate degree at St. Petersburg State University before moving to Norway to undertake postgraduate studies.

In 2008 following the completion of is PhD, Dr. Iskhakov was awarded His Majesty the King’s gold medal (Hans Majestet Kongens gullmedalje) for best research in social sciences among young researchers in Norway.

His paper, titled, “A dynamics structural analysis of health and retirement,” contributed to Norway’s revised national retirement policy and earned him a coveted position amongst the global cohort of PhD Economics graduates.

Dr. Iskhakov's research brings together economic theory and data to both advance our understanding of how real economy works and to test the validity of various economic models.

His work centres around modelling complex dynamic decisions of households or firms, and aims at informing public policy in fields such as employment, retirement, taxation and social welfare.

Having already published a number of articles in the leading international academic journals, including in top five journals in economics, Dr. Ishkhakov is now focused on strengthening RSE's reputation in regards to research internationally, particularly in relation to dynamics modelling.

“My goal at ANU is to help improve the research environment through building connections with leading international researchers and attracting talented students, and to strengthen the research profile of RSE in the global arena,” he concluded.
