  Brief Biography

Pierre worked at the National Institute for Economic and Social Research in London before joining the Australian National University in 1991, first at the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, later at the College of Business and Economics. He conducted research projects in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan, and consultancies for the Open University, AusAID, and REPSF. He was visiting professor at the Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur, 2001), Seikei University (Tokyo, 2002-03), Osaka University (2004, 2005), Kyoto University (2006), the University of Tokyo (2010), and Maastricht University (2010).
