      Brief Biography
    George is currently a PhD candidate.  His thesis topic relates to the nature of accountability and effectiveness of Australian Government communication campaigns.

    His other research interests include assessing the ability of advertising to influence behaviour change in the commercial world, as well as examining the use of Social marketing principles by non- profit organisations and activist groups.

    Before coming to academic life, he had a long and varied career in Public sector marketing. He has run:

  • employment promotion programs in the Northern Territory,
  • national promotional programmes for the Australian Traineeship System,
  • Research and large budget promotional programmes for Medicare, the PBS and the Childcare Cash Rebate Schemes.

    His last job in the private sector was as Market Research Manager and Industry Analyst for Medibank Private.
