The School of Economics was the first academic body specialising in economics to be established in the Australian Capital Territory, and can trace its origins back to 1929 and the Canberra University College.

The School is consistently ranked as among the top economics research and teaching departments in Australia. Our strengths range from theoretical economics and macroeconomics through financial, public and international economics. The School also covers the disciplines of economic history and econometrics. Emphasis in all teaching is placed on training students to be creative and scientifically rigourous in their pursuits in economics, econometrics and economic history.
