ANU centrally-administered scholarships

Australian Undergraduate Scholarships

The ANU College of Business and Economics has expanded its scholarship program to include up to Twenty (20) Undergraduate Merit Awards each year as part of its ongoing commitment to excellence in academic achievement. The award is open to Australian and International Students who are applying for admission to the University for the first time. The award is valued at $5,000 – single payment for commencing student. International or domestic students must have completed an Australian Year 12 and have a UAI/ENTER score of at least 95 and have not been awarded any other scholarship. Applicants must apply to ANU through UAC. The awards are highly competitive and will be offered in first semester only.

The Mitchell Scholarship is offered thanks to the generosity of Mr John Mitchell (BEc 1980) and provides $1,000 for a first year student of academic merit from a rural background who demonstrates academic ability and evidence of financial need. Students must be undertaking a degree program in the ANU College of Business and Economics.

The ANU College of Business and Economics may award up to thirty (30) awards valued at $500 each for Australian students who are applying for admission to the university for the first time. Applicants must have been schooled in and reside in Queensland, Victoria or New South Wales (excluding the Canebrra region). The awards are competitive and based on academic merit.

  • Treasury Scholarship in Economics for Third Year Students

$5,000 will be awarded to an Australian citizen who will pursue full-time study in their third year of the Bachelor of Economics in 2010. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate an interest in furthering their studies in economic policy or public policy. Applicants will be assessed primarily on the basis of academic merit.

 

Honours Scholarships
  • Bob Gregory Honours Scholarship

    The Bob Gregory Honours Scholarship is valued at $10,000. The focus of the thesis must be applied economics. This scholarship is open to all Australian and International Bachelor of Economics Honours students. Interested students can contact the Honours Program Convener -

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and the Reserve Bank of Australia have established the Brian Gray Scholarship Program in memory of Brian Gray, who died on 24 August 2001 while serving as Executive General Manager of APRA’s Policy, Research and Consulting Division.  The Scholarship funds four honours scholarships annually, to the value of $12,500 each. As part of the scholarship, students will devote 500 or so hours to an agreed research topic, benefiting from access to APRA expertise and data.

  • College Honours Scholarships

    The College of Business and Economics makes available up to eight Honours Scholarships for Australian and International students to undertake the Honours year in one of the College's programs. Each scholarship is worth $8,000 per annum for Australian and International students.
  • DEEWR Labour Economics Honours Scholarship

    The DEEWR Labour Economics Scholarship is valued at $10,000. The focus of the thesis must be labour economics. This scholarship is open to all Australian and International Bachelor of Economics Honours students. Interested students can contact the Honours Program Convener -

  • School of Accounting and Business Information Systems Honours Scholarship

    The School of Accounting and Business Information Systems (ABIS) may award up to four Honours Scholarships per year in the amount of $12,500. Applicants must be admitted to and continue to pursue study in the honours program course ACCT4004F or COMM4004F. Candidates must have applied for admission as a full time student and be commencing the honours program in the semester for which the scholarship is awarded. Selection is based on academic merit.
  • Treasury Scholarship in Economics for Honours Students

    $5,000 will be awarded to an Australian citizen who will pursue full-time study in the fourth honours year of the Bachelor of Economics in 2010. The recipient must undertake research in the area of economic policy or public policy. Applicants will be assessed primarily on the basis of academic merit.

 

International Undergraduate Scholarships
  • College International Merit Scholarship for Commencing Students

    The ANU College of Business and Economics will offer up to ten (10) half tuition scholarships for one year for commencing international undergraduate students who are applying for admission to an undergraduate program offered by the College. Some scholarships are reserved for ANU partner institutions in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. The scholarships are highly competitive. Successful applicants are those who performed at a very high level in the final year or years of schooling. Applicants for this scholarship should complete an International Undergraduate Scholarship Form and be applying for admission to the University for the first time. The scholarships may be offered in both first and second semesters.

  • The Terrell International Scholarship

To acknowledge the contribution of Professor R D Terrell to international relations and international student affairs, the University offers four Terrell International Scholarships to be awarded to international undergraduate students on the basis of their achievement after completing one year of enrolment at the Australian National University. The scholarships meet 50% or 25% of annual tuition fees and full Overseas Student Health Cover.

  • College International Merit Scholarship for Commencing Students - ANU College Foundation Student

One scholarship is available for a 50% waiver of tuition fees for an ANU College Foundation Student who applies for a College program. The scholarships may be offered in both first and second semesters.

 

Graduate Scholarships

The ANU College of Business and Economics may award one full tuition scholarship for up to one year of study to an Australian student who is an Alumni of the ANU College of Business and Economics. The student must be eligible for admission to a Graduate Diploma or Master program offered by the ANU College of Business and Economics and must be seeking admission for the first time. The scholarship is competitive and based on academic merit. 

The ANU College of Business and Economics makes available up to fifteen Graduate Scholarships each year. The scholarships are competitive and based on academic merit. Applicants must be offered admission to a Graduate Diploma or Master program offered by the ANU College of Business and Economics. The award is valued at $5,000.

The ANU College of Business and Economics makes available up to five Graduate Scholarships for international students each year. The scholarship provides sponsorship for half of the international student tuition fee for up to one year of a Graduate Diploma or Masters program offered by the ANU College of Business and Economics. The scholarships are competitive and based on academic merit.

The ANU College of Business and Economics offers the Neil Vousden Memorial Scholarship annually to an Australian or international applicant who is admitted to and continues to pursue a full-time program of study in the Master of Economics. Recipient of the scholarship will be selected on the basis of academic merit and must meet the entry requirements for the MEc. The scholarship provides an amount of 66% of the Australian Postgraduate Award for the year in which the scholarship is awarded. The scholarship is payable in two equal amounts, one paid at the commencement of semester one and the other at the commencement of semester two.

The Australian National University (ANU) College of Business and Economics and the Australian-American Fulbright Commission have teamed up to establish a new Scholarship for American Scholars studying in the area of business or economics. The School of Accounting and Business Information Systems within the ANU College of Business and Economics is offering up to six scholarships for full-time study towards a doctorate in the areas of accounting and information systems. Further Information

The ANU College of Business of Economics offers a range of scholarships and research funding to high achieving students commencing a PhD in 2009.

As part of Australia’s top ranked University*, the ANU College of Business and Economics conducts world class research and offers a range of higher degree research programs.

Scholarships and research funding up to the value of $40,000 pa will be considered for successful candidates. Selection is based on academic merit and research potential. Holders of an Australian Postgraduate Award will be considered for supplementary funding.

These awards are available to Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents of Australia studying full-time. In accordance with strict criteria, the scholarships and research funding may be awarded for part-time study on a pro-rata basis.
